Celebrating another year of improved GCSE results

24 August 2023

Rayner Stephens High School is thrilled to announce another exciting year of improved performance in the 2023 GCSE examinations, achieving its best-ever results in a significant number of areas including the strong pass (5+) in English and Maths, demonstrating the dedication and hard work of both students and staff.

With an unwavering commitment to academic excellence and an inclusive learning environment, Rayner Stephens High School has once again demonstrated the significant improvements that have been made over the last couple of years since the school joined Stamford Park Trust.

During a year in which GCSE grades have dropped nationally on the previous two years to be back in line with 2019 results, both teachers and students at Rayner Stephens High School have exhibited remarkable resilience and aspiration. Their determination to excel has resulted in an outstanding set of results that are a significant improvement on the results in 2019 and have improved even on the schools best ever results achieved in 2022. This is a real reflection on the continued school improvement journey the school has been on so far.

Head of School, Martin Davies expressed his delight, saying, "The results this year are a true testament to the dedication and hard work of our students and staff and another indication of the rapid change and improvements we have implemented in the school, to ensure we are providing the best level of education and care for our students. We wish them all the success in their futures, and they will always be part of our family at Rayner Stephens.”

Numerous students have achieved outstanding individual results, showcasing not only their academic abilities but also their dedication to personal growth and achievement. It is fantastic to see so many of our students planning to continue their education at sixth form college, many choosing to remain within Stamford Park Trust and studying at Ashton Sixth Form College.

Melanie Wicks, the Executive Principal for Stamford Park Trust commented “Everyone at Stamford Park Trust is delighted to see the achievement of students at Rayner Stephens High School this year. Alongside the outstanding support and guidance given by staff, students have worked exceptionally hard to secure their results, and we look forward to many of them remaining in our trust for the next stage of their education.”
