Astley ends on a high!

The final students from Astley Sports College to sit their exams ensured that the school went out on a high with a strong set of GCSE results, and some exceptional individual performances. Pleasing English and Maths results were supported by excellent results from students in PE and Art.

Headteacher Fay Beach said “The entire Astley Sports College family is so very proud of our Year 11 leavers and we wish them every success in the future. The five years that these students have been at school have seen the most educational change in a generation and our class of 2017 have responded extremely well. They have achieved this success through their own talent and hard work coupled with the incredible commitment and support provided by a team of dedicated staff.”

Exceptional individual performances came from a number of students, in particular Cody Odell who achieved a Grade 9 in Maths, a Grade 8 and Grade 7 in the English subjects, and combined this with a further 4 Grade A’s, and Oskar Dolata who achieved 12 GCSEs including a Grade 9 in Maths, Grade 7 in both English subjects, and a further 3 A grades.
