Role of the Form Tutor
The form tutor is a vital part of student’s life at Rayner Stephens. Learners have daily contact with their Form Tutor, this allows Tutors to monitor the progress of their learners in all aspects of school life. Form Tutors are there to help and support learners and are the first point of contact for parents.
Form Time/PSHE Curriculum
Learners attend form each morning for 15 minutes. They will have daily activities that include; Literacy, Mathematics and Current Affairs / Citizenship. Assemblies take place every Wednesday morning and are delivered by SLT, Mr Cleverley or an external speaker. Once every two weeks the form group will complete a PSHE session, these lessons are planned to help young people develop fully as individuals, as members of families, social and economic communities.
Learners in Year 9 will be expected to complete homework from each of their Subjects Teachers. Their teachers will set deadlines for each individual piece of work. There is also a homework club that takes place within school.
Learners are encouraged to attend afterschool sessions which are offered to them across the curriculum. We also encourage students to take part in extra-curricular activities in a variety of subjects.
Year 9 learners support a number of charities including MIND and Willow Wood Hospice. Throughout the year we will hold events to raise money to donate to charities.
