Role of the Form Tutor
The form tutor is a vital part of student’s life at Rayner Stephens. Learners have daily contact with their Form Tutor, this allows Tutors to monitor the progress of their learners in all aspects of school life. Form Tutors are there to help and support learners and are the first point of contact for parents.
Form Time/PSHE Curriculum
Learners attend form mid-morning for 15 minutes. They will have daily activities that support Mental Health and Wellbeing and activities that support learning in the curriculum. Assemblies take place every Wednesday morning and are delivered by SLT, the Year 9 pastoral team, specialist teachers or an external speaker. This will be delivered using Teams. Once every two weeks the form group will complete a RSHE session, these lessons are planned to help young people develop fully as individuals, as members of families, social and economic communities.
Home Learning
Learners in Year 9 will be expected to complete homework from each of their Subjects Teachers. Their teachers will set deadlines for each individual piece of work. There is also a homework club that takes place within school.
Afterschool Sessions
Learners are encouraged to attend afterschool sessions which are offered to them across the curriculum. We also encourage students to take part in extra-curricular activities in a variety of subjects.
Enrichment Opportunities
Year 9 learners will be encouraged to enroll on the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and take leadership roles to support younger learners in the school.
